How does it work:
REDUCTIL supresses your appetite for food. Before taking REDUCTIL,
review your diet so that you understand your eating patterns. This
will enable you to balance your newly reduced appetite. Weight loss
should not be a quick fix but a gradual process.
Dosages:
A prescribed tablet of 10mg or 15mg taken with or without food each
morning. If you forget to take a tablet of REDUCTIL, continue from
that point on(Do not take double your dosage to compensate).
CAUTION: Do NOT take REDUCTIL if you:
- are pregnant women or nursing mothers. (Women who are still
able to conceive should take birth control whilst taking Reductil.
In all cases consult with your doctor. Reductil does not affect
birth control)
- suffer from blood pressure complications
- are taking prescription medicines called monoamine oxidase
inhibitors (known as MAOI's)
- suffer from Parkinson's or any other disorder
- are taking other weight loss medication
- have had prior reactions to Reductils or sibutramine
- have had a heart attack
- have been diagnosed with congestive heart failure or coronary artery disease
- have irregular heart beats (arrhythmias)
- have liver or kidney conditions
- have had a stroke or at risk of a stroke
- suffer from anorexia nervosa
- suffer from or who have had seizures
- suffer from depression
- have eye disorders
- are taking any medication that regulate the neurotransmitter serotonin
- are a child
Side Effects:
The most common side effects from taking REDUCTIL are insomnia,
constipation, dry mouth, headaches, increased blood pressure and
an increase in heart rate. These symptoms are usually mild and short-lived.
Contact a doctor should you experience any of the following symptoms:
difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, chest pain, angina, heart
rate over 100 beats a minute or irregular heart beat, muscle rigidity,
fevers, painful eyes, stomach pains, nausea, vomiting, restlessness,
light-headedness, feeling disorientated, feeling depressed, feeling
mentally confused. |
